Unlocking Futures: Edison Scholars Program

Every year Southern California Edison awards $50,000 scholarships to 30 high school seniors who want to make a difference in the world by studying science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) in college. New majors have been added, including cybersecurity and data analytics. I wanted to share the application period and requirements for high school seniors pursuing a degree in STEM. Since 2006, Edison International has awarded $15 million in scholarships to 760 students through the Edison Scholars program.

 

Application period: Now – January 23, 2024

 

Applicant requirements:

  • Students must live in Southern California Edison’s service territory.

  • Must be a high school senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA and financial need

  • Plan to pursue studies in eligible STEM fields at a four-year accredited college or university

  • Show financial need

Nurturing Connections: Empowering Seniors through AC Aging Programs



Access to Technology Program – BOS District 3

iPads with data coverage are available under the Access to Technology (ATT) Program for the older adult population of Orange County’s Third Supervisorial District.

This program is funded by the California Department of Aging (CDA) and is meant to reduce social isolation and expand access to services for older adults via technology. Participants of the ATT Program will be provided the latest iPad model, including a 10 GB monthly data plan from Verizon, which ends on 12/31/2024. Additionally, the ATT Program includes one-on-one device onboarding and set-up for iPad recipients, as well as access to various virtual classes available from our provider: GetSetUp (all at no cost to participants).

Senior Medical Alert Device Program is funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

This program aims to provide medical alert devices to the older adult population of Orange County’s Fifth Supervisorial District, particularly those who are considered high risk for a fall.
