CalOptima Health Workforce Development Fund: Notice of Funding Opportunity!


CalOptima Health is investing $50 million over five years in the Workforce Development Fund to address healthcare workforce shortages in Orange County. The first round of funding opened on December 15, 2023, and the deadline is January 31, 2024.

Offers up to $10 million in grants to boost the health professional pipeline, with a focus on nursing, behavioral health, primary care (nurse partitioners and physician assistants), and allied health professions. Eligible projects include high school-to-higher education pipeline programs, stipends for underrepresented and low-income students, and investments in expanding clinical rotations. Educational institutions or partnerships are encouraged to apply, aligning with funding opportunities and grant application guidelines.

Unlocking Futures: Edison Scholars Program

Every year Southern California Edison awards $50,000 scholarships to 30 high school seniors who want to make a difference in the world by studying science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) in college. New majors have been added, including cybersecurity and data analytics. I wanted to share the application period and requirements for high school seniors pursuing a degree in STEM. Since 2006, Edison International has awarded $15 million in scholarships to 760 students through the Edison Scholars program.

Application period: Now – January 23, 2024

Applicant requirements:

  • Students must live in Southern California Edison’s service territory.

  • Must be a high school senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA and financial need

  • Plan to pursue studies in eligible STEM fields at a four-year accredited college or university

  • Show financial need

OCCOG 2024 Annual Conference Sponsorships Now Open!
