ACC-OC hosted its Leadership Summit and Golden Hub of Innovation Awards on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency in Garden Grove. Over 200 stakeholders, including elected officials, county representatives, nonprofits, business partners, and service providers gathered to celebrate the installation of the 2024 Board of Directors and to recognize exceptional leadership and innovative achievements across Orange County.

SoCalGas Earns ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the Second Consecutive Year.

The award is one of the ENERGY STAR program’s highest levels of recognition and reflects the utility’s efforts to help its customers save money, conserve energy and transition to a net-zero emissions future. SoCalGas was recognized from a network of thousands of ENERGY STAR partners for the utility’s focus on providing direct engagement and incentives for ENERGY STAR products to underserved communities. SoCalGas’ energy efficiency programs are some of the largest in the United States. Over the last five years, they have helped save SoCalGas customers over $241 million in utility bill costs and delivered more than 219 million therms in energy savings. That’s enough natural gas usage for approximately 548,000 households a year and reduced greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) by over 1.2 million metric tons, the equivalent of removing over 250,000 cars from the road annually.

Airway Avenue Sewer Construction Update - May 2, 2024


LOCATION: Intersection of Baker St. and Airway Ave.

  • What: Excavation and pipeline replacement work

  • When:  Starting the night of May 6, and continuing the next several weeks, approximately late June

  • Work Hours: Night work from 8 p.m. - 6 a.m., Monday - Friday

  • What to Expect: 

  • Traffic control with reduced lanes with one way traffic at a time.

  • Flaggers will be onsite to assist with directing traffic.

  • Increase in activity and noise levels

  • Please drive with caution


 

Join Aliso Viejo to raise awareness about opioid issues and fentanyl overdose deaths. Forum speakers will include County of Orange Supervisor Katrine Foley, OC Sheriff's Department Sgt. Gunsolley, and Mark Lawrenz from the OC Health Care Agency. Discover how fentanyl-related deaths can be prevented and learn about available resources.


Attendees will receive training on administering Naloxone and will receive a free box.

 

Legacy Square, a 93-home affordable housing community in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, has won the 2024 Project of the Year award at the Orange County Affordable Housing Awards. Developed by National CORE, the City of Santa Ana, and the Santa Ana United Methodist Church, Legacy Square exemplifies the power of public-private partnerships in addressing housing needs. The community offers spacious apartments, recreational areas, and support services for residents, including those who experienced homelessness. Its innovative design, environmentally friendly features, and partnership model have earned it recognition and insipired similar projects in other cities. Through collabortion with local organizations and government support, Legacy Square showcases a transformative approach to affordable housing, addressing the pressing need for accessible homes in the region.

The SoCal Climate Champions Grant aims to advance climate solutions in Southern California. In the context of this grant program, climate solutions refer to reducing, mitigating, and sequestering greenhouse gas emissions, improving air quality, and organic waste diversion solutions in the communities.


To this end, the SoCal Climate Champions Grant assesses proposals based on their demonstrated potential as measured through an objective rubric.
