This week, the Orange County Council of Governments (OCCOG) approved Resolution No. 01-2024, calling for immediate emergency measures from the California Insurance Commissioner, state legislature, and governor to stabilize the state's insurance marketplace.
The resolution responds to the current turmoil in California's insurance market, where major carriers have halted new policies for homeowners and commercial properties, impacting coverage options and causing significant concerns for residents and businesses.
This move follows similar actions by the Orange County Board of Supervisors and neighboring San Bernardino County, with supportive responses from local officials including Commissioner Lara. Chair Wagner emphasized the urgency of this issue, urging OCCOG’s support to protect Orange County’s economic well-being and promote stability in the insurance sector.
By approving this resolution, OCCOG aims to join a collective effort to address the insurance crisis and ensure better coverage and stability for all Californians.
